The Hooktheory team has developed some major features in Hookpad to kick off 2024. We’re excited to share these new updates designed to make your music creation process easier and more intuitive.
Feature 1: Redesigned Lyrics Editor
First, we’ve redesigned the Lyrics Editor. Now, you can:
- Group lyrics by section. This makes it easy to move, edit, and remove sections and their corresponding lyrics.
- View the number of syllables in each line as you write.
- Fine-tune how lyrics are placed over notes using intuitive controls.
- Easily export lyrics as PDF sheets.
Feature 2: Improved MP3 and WAV Export Functions
Our MP3 and WAV exporting capabilities have also been significantly upgraded since migrating export technology to WebAudio OfflineContext.
During exports, audio data is written only when browser resources are available. Exports are now “bounced” instead of “recorded.” As a result, export times are 2-10 times faster!
We have also introduced new MP3 and WAV export options:
- Download a ZIP file containing individual track stems with the “Track stems” feature.
- Export a single instrument directly from the band browser.
Feature 3: New Guitar Instrument
Finally, we’ve added a guitar instrument that shows chords in relative notation as you add them to your project and during playback. (If you’re new to relative notation or music theory, check out our beginner’s guide to music theory).
To access this feature, select “Preferences” and toggle on “Show Piano/Guitar.” Then, in the browser, select “Guitar.”
